UMUORU UGA TAKING THE BULL BY THE HORN...

Umuoru Uga Today, embarked on another great project which will gulp more than #100m. For ages, residents of a clan known as ikpaugo in Umuoru Uga has been living a kind of isolated and neglected life due to their location and menace they face every raining season. The only road to Ikpaugo is via defunct TTC (now vocational institute) Uga, off the famous Obizi stream. The link between Ikpaugo clan and their mother village, Umuoru also has another pond separating them from Umuoru, the name of the pond is Umura. Few months ago, Okuekwe Aguata updated us on the drainage of this pond by same Umuoru community, because their brothers in Umueze are facing heavy erosion tragedy and the flood runs down from Umueze to Umuoru which also contributes to the problems Ikpaugo people experiences during rainy season. Story also has it that due to the erosion menace, a deceased was carried by men to walk up to 2 kilometers before arriving the deseaded house. Based on the few points above, the Umuoru community under Architect Jerry Nwokeji as chairman, after draining the umura pond, embarked on erecting of a British standard bridge to give Umura people easy access to their home and the outside world. At the foundation laying, the isiobis of all the clans in Umuoru village, led by Ichie Charles Esike (overall Isiobi Umuoru), appreciated the chairman of Umuoru and after inspecting the already laid rods and foundations, they prayed with kola and poured drinks in respect to the land and ancestors. After which they prayed to God and asked for grace for all to be alive to see the end of the project.
